The LaFerrara family took over La Famiglia Sorrento in 2003. Sorrento's was a well-established family owned and operated business for over 40 years prior. The owners, Anthony and Regina LaFerrara, come from a line of bakers, chefs, and business people which is why we are so successful almost 20 years later. Regina is from Staten Island. Her family owned and operated many restaurants as she was growing up in Staten Island and Long Island, New York. Anthony is from Cranford where he was born and raised. While he's not the best chef, he's one of the best businessmen, who built his empire from the ground up. He owns apartment buildings in East Orange and Irvington. LaFerrara Properties provides luxurious affordable housing to more than 1,000 tenants. Anthony and Regina's daughters Gina and Dominique are the front of house managers. Regina and her daughters are there almost every day, chances are you know them if you are a regular.
Sorrento is home to the Original Tomato Pie, which is a New York style pie featuring cubed mozzarella vs. shredded mozzarella. It's for the person who really appreciates a great tomato sauce as it offers a different sauce to cheese ratio than your traditional cheese pizza. Customer favorites also include our Grandma pizza, Margherita pizza, and white pizza. Anything made with our homemade ricotta cheese blend such as calzones, baked ziti, and eggplant rollatini are sure to please. If you're a first time customer we highly recommend ordering a Large Pie 1/2 White 1/2 Tomato pie, to taste the best of both worlds. All of our soups are homemade by Regina and our chefs. We have an expansive menu starting at $8. Each weekend we have dinner specials. We offer a $8 kids menu and gluten free options such as cheese ravioli, personal pizza, and penne. Our customers really enjoy the Eggplant Rollatini, and Chicken Parm Supreme which is chicken cutlet topped with melted fresh mozzarella and vodka sauce. All of our food is prepared on the premises and cooked to order. Chances are, if you want something that is not on the menu, we can still make if for you because we do not prepare dishes ahead of time. Nothing sits under a heat lamp, and our soups do not sit in a steam table. Everything is made fresh and the taste and quality of the ingredients reflects that.
We have recently converted our restaurant to Take-Out and Delivery only. We will no longer offer dining inside. To pick up an order please use the entrance in the Tuscan Room. You will be greeted by a member of our staff at the glass who will gladly assist you with your order. We offer prompt delivery starting at 11am. We deliver to Westfield, Cranford, Scotch Plains, Mountainside (we do not cross over route 22), Garwood, Fanwood and Clark. All of our deliveries are made my members of our staff and never from a 3rd party.
